Physical Rehabilitation in West Palm Beach

Help your pet regain strength, mobility, and quality of life. Our physical rehabilitation services are tailored to their unique needs.

Helping Pets Heal, Move, and Thrive

Whether recovering from surgery, managing chronic pain, or simply slowing down with age, pets can benefit greatly from physical rehabilitation. At Healing Arts Veterinary Center in West Palm Beach, we offer personalized canine and feline rehab programs designed to improve mobility, build strength, and enhance your pet’s quality of life.

What Is Veterinary Rehabilitation?

Just like in human medicine, rehabilitation for pets uses targeted therapies and exercises to:

  • Restore function after injury or surgery
  • Improve strength and coordination
  • Reduce pain and inflammation
  • Support weight management
  • Enhance flexibility and range of motion
  • Slow the progression of arthritis and other age-related issues

Every treatment plan is customized for your pet’s condition, personality, and goals.

Conditions We Commonly Treat

Rehabilitation can benefit both dogs and cats with a wide range of needs, including:

  • Post-operative recovery (especially orthopedic surgeries)
  • Arthritis and joint stiffness
  • Neurological disorders
  • Muscle atrophy or weakness
  • Obesity and mobility challenges
  • Injury prevention in athletic or working pets
  • Age-related decline in senior pets

Our Approach to Rehab Therapy

Each rehab plan begins with a thorough evaluation by our veterinary team. Depending on your pet’s needs, therapies may include:

  • Therapeutic exercises
  • Range-of-motion work
  • Laser therapy
  • Massage and stretching
  • Strength and balance training
  • At-home exercise programs
  • Underwater treadmill
  • Hydrotherapy pool

We use a calm, low-stress approach to keep your pet comfortable and engaged during every session. The Underwater Treadmill is designed to reduce the force of gravity on your pet so it can move freely. Even the most debilitated patient can benefit from this treatment.

It promotes a greater range of motion and strengthening of atrophied muscles. At speeds of up to 5mph and with the addition of resistance jets, the Underwater Treadmill is great for conditioning and endurance training for agility and sporting dogs.

Our hydrotherapy pool is a specialized, temperature-controlled pool used to support rehabilitation, pain relief, and fitness in pets — especially dogs recovering from surgery or injury. The buoyancy of the water reduces pressure on joints and muscles, allowing pets to move more freely while safely rebuilding strength, flexibility, and endurance.

The gentle resistance of the water also helps improve circulation and range of motion without putting excess stress on healing tissues. Whether for post-operative recovery, arthritis management, or weight control, hydrotherapy provides a low-impact, highly effective way to enhance mobility and overall well-being.

Can Cats Really Do Rehab?

Yes! While feline rehabilitation requires a gentler, more patient approach, many cats benefit from targeted exercises and pain-relieving therapies — especially seniors and post-surgical patients.
